Becoming a Friend (member) is a way to thank our library and community. It is an important way to support the community as the funds pay for such things as purchasing equipment, books, furniture for the library, and special projects.
A few of the projects membership support include:
Local History Lecture Series
Painting in the Stacks
Read to the Dogs
SAT Practice Exams
Sensational Saturdays (STEM)
Stress Reliever Adult Coloring
Summer Reading Programs
Tree Lighting Ceremony
How important are Friends groups to libraries? They can literally make the difference between a budget increase and cut for their libraries. Since the beginning of the American library movement, Friends groups have been formed by citizens using their collective powers to do everything from running a book sale to ensuring that our American library legacy remains viable. By contributing as a library Friend, you can make a lasting difference for your library.
Likewise, make your voice heard... Anyone can speak up for your libraries—your voice counts! People who are passionate about providing access to information, literature, and lifelong learning have always been at the heart of the American library movement. This is true now more than ever, and citizens must use their voices to ensure our library legacy remains viable and fully funded. Library advocacy doesn’t have to be complex; it can be as simple as telling others—at the grocery store, student union, bank, post office, or parties—why you value your library.
