Board Member Guidelines
Mission:
The purpose of the Placentia Library Friends Foundation. (PLFF) is to assist Placentia’s Library District by raising funds to support and enhance its programs, activities and capital projects, promote volunteer involvement and provide educational and cultural opportunities for its membership and Library customers.
Vision:
Placentia Library Friends Foundation, through its leadership and comprehensive donor programs, makes Placentia Library the cornerstone of community identity.
Board Development:
Leadership is critical if we are to achieve our strategic goals. We need to recruit and retain a strong, strategic Board of Directors and also increase volunteer involvement throughout our organization.
Strategic Planning:
In order to target our multi-pronged donor base, as well as our volunteer leadership base, we need to have a well-defined strategic plan and attractive promotional material to tell our story.
Fundraising:
Much of the support fo1ยท the library and its many projects comes from the dedication and hard work of the PLFF. Our focus is centered on expanding our donor and membership base.
Board Obligation:
Board members are obligated to:
- Be a member of Placentia Library Friends Foundation.
- Be actively involved in at least one committee(s)
- Support all fundraisers organized by the PLFF Board
- Buy or sell at least one ticket to our major fund raisers. Participate in PLFF sponsored library activities.
- Attend monthly Board meetings.
Fiduciary Duties:
Board members are required to act with due care in fulfilling the tasks of policy making, monitoring PLFF’ s operations and decision making. The basic requirement is that Board members act in good faith, i.e. that prior to making a decision the Board must possess sufficient knowledge of a proposed transaction, independently examine the available information and take sufficient time to properly consider the proposed action.
