On September 14, 2019 from 10:00- 1:00 the Placentia Library will celebrate its grand re-opening with a ribbon- cutting event and you’re invited! Come and check out our beautiful, shiny and new library as it ushers in the next 100 years. Don’t miss out on all the festivities!
Here’s some exciting new features you can expect to see:
Bodhi-Tealeaf Coffee Bar
Visit the Placentia Library, and relax and enjoy a coffee or tea while immersing yourself in the pages of a book. It doesn’t get any better than this!
Placentia Library Friends Foundation Bookstore
Check out the newly painted and organized bookstore located right next to the coffee bar. Shop for books and savor the taste and aroma of your favorite beverage in this cozy nook of the library.
The Hangar
An incubator for innovation, imagination, and inspiration that uses technology to explore, create and collaborate ideas with others. The space is open to children, adults, and entrepreneurs. It will include 3D laser printers, robotics, iMacs, art supplies and other equipment that enhances patrons’ curiosity while fostering STEAM learning opportunities.
Crossroads Corner
This is an interactive space that promotes a playful learning environment with hands-on activities, educational programming, and virtual reality experiences.
Virginia and Norman Haussmann Storytime Alcove:
This area will be fueled by music and storytelling by an engaging and dynamic library staff. The Virginia and Norman Haussmann Storytime Alcove will host many stories, songs, rhymes, finger plays, flannel boards, and puppet shows to help cultivate listening skills. Its objective is foster a strong literacy start for young readers and their families.
The Barbara and Ed Hemmerling Group Study Rooms:
Two rooms are available for Placentia Library cardholders to use, with accommodation of up to eight persons. Each room is equipped with audio-visual equipment that will be available for use.
